We are a family orientated martial arts club, with a focus on karate and kickboxing.

We offer a wide range of kids and family classes in the Sussex South Coast area, covering Brighton (Patcham, Coldean, Bevendean, Westdene, Queens Park) Hove, Woodingdean, Rottingdean, Peacehaven, Newhaven, Seaford & Lewes.

We teach over 40 classes per week; a mixture of after school, evening and weekend classes.

About SAMA

The SAMA Organisation was founded in 1978 by the Chief Instructor Hanshi Alan Gibson. With over 60 years of Karate experience and over 40 years of kickboixing experience, he is regarded as one of the top martial artists in the world.

SAMA is now several separate branches. SAMA South Coast was established in 2026 and is headed by Yondan Kane Standing. He has over 25 years Karate and kickboxing experience, 15 years teaching experience and 5 years as a duputy head of area, he has more than enough experience under his belt. Kane has also competed in semi-professional K1 and coaches a small team to compete in K1.

After School Classes

After school classes are booked in advance to secure your childs spot in the class, and ensure we have contact details for a parent or guardian. You can book a no-obligation 2 week trial, to see if your child enjoys the class. After the two-week trial, your child will need a SAMA membership. This is their insurance. It gives them access to both Karate and Kickboxing classes across the SAMA South Coast area, gradings and other adhoc events.

Evening & Weekend Classes

Evening and weekend classes are drop in pay-as-you-go (card & cash payments accepted). You are welcome to complete a no-obligation 2 week trial, to see if you or your child enjoys the class. After the two-week trial, you/your child will need a SAMA membership. This is your insurance. It gives you access to both Karate and Kickboxing classes across the SAMA South Coast area, gradings and other adhoc events.
